Judges for the 2008 Sexies

Dan Savage writes the popular sex-advice column "Savage Love," is a contributor to "This American Life," and edits Seattle's weekly newspaper The Stranger. He is the author of Savage Love: Straight Answers from America's Most Popular Sex Columnist, The Kid, Skipping Towards Gomorrah, and The Commitment.

Carol Queen, PhD is a writer, speaker, educator and activist with a doctorate in sexology. She is the staff sexologist at Good Vibrations, and a cofounder of the Center for Sex and Culture.

Liza Featherstone is a journalist based in New York City. She wrote "Sex, Lies, and Women's Magazines" for Columbia Journalism Review and is the author of two books on student activism and workers' rights.

Jack Hafferkamp has been a working journalist (Chicago Daily News, Contra Costa Times); a journalism teacher (Roosevelt University, Medill School of Journalism); co-editor/publisher (with Marianna Beck) of the quarterly LIBIDO: The Journal of Sex and Sensibility; and a producer of erotic video. He is currently Great Lakes Regional Editor of www.edgechicago.com and is about to teach a course called Un-Banning Media, about how the courts of America have modified censorship laws to allow for adult content, at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago.

Doug Henwood is the founding editor of Left Business Observer, a contributing editor of The Nation, and host of a radio weekly program on WBAI (New York). He is the author of Wall Street (Verso 1997, now available for free download); The State of the USA, a social atlas; and After the New Economy.

Marty Klein, PhD is a certified sex therapist and sociologist with a special interest in public policy and sexuality. He has written several books, including America's War on Sex and Sexual Intelligence: Politics, Culture, the Media, and Sex. Each year he trains thousands of professionals in North America and abroad in clinical skills, human sexuality, and policy issues.

Claire Cavanah is an activist, writer, speaker, and educator in the field of human sexuality and a founder of babeland.com. She has a degree in semiotics from Brown University.
